D.I.R.T. was started using grant money provided by:

Each school day, students and staff spend 15 minutes reading whatever they choose. The purpose of the program is to encourage reading as a hobby and ultimately to increase our reading scores at Kimball High School.

During the 2010-11 school year, 90% of students read one or more books during the reading time. Thirty-five percent of students read 4-6 books.

D.I.R.T. is enjoyable! When surveyed, nearly 90% of juniors responded they either always or sometimes enjoyed their daily reading time.

Reading libraries have been added to classrooms to help students choose books written at their reading level. These book titles were chosen after accepting suggestions from students.
