Our Mission Statement

To strengthen families through education and support of all parents in providing the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children.

Early Childhood ScreeningEarly Childhood Screening

Each child between the ages of 3 and 5 must be screened before Kindergarten Entrance (or a conscientious objector signature must be obtained). Schools screen for the following growth and development concerns:

  • vision
  • hearing
  • eyesight
  • immunization status
  • skills in thinking
  • communication and language
  • large and small muscles
  • social/emotional development
Each screening takes approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to complete. Parents learn more about how their child is developing according to their age group.

Who should be screened?

All children 3.5 and preferably prior to their 4th birthday.

Why?

To allow trained teachers to take a short "snapshot picture" of each child's development for the purpose of identifying potential delays or parental concerns about their development.
