Harold "Cork" Peters
Class of 1949

Cork graduated from Kimball in 1949. He played football, basketball, and baseball; but he really excelled in basketball. Cork was invited to try out with the Minneapolis Lakers after he graduated. Cork”s basketball ability must have been pretty amazing to get noticed by the Lakers and getting an invite to try out. With few jobs available during this time he enlisted in the army. Cork made the army basketball team while enlisted, but war broke out with Korea and he never was able to play a game. Cork was a command sergeant major and was well respected by his men. His leadership skills served him well in this position as he cared very deeply for people. Cork always said his work ethic and values came from growing up in a community like Kimball. He often stated St. Cloud was a suburb of Kimball. Cork raised 4 children and worked as the secretary of treasure for local dairy union 471.
