Leo Wirth

Leo Wirth, a longtime Kimball School District employee and Kimball Cubs family member, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, at Quiet Oaks Hospice surrounded by his family. 

During his 36-year career in the Kimball School District, Leo taught vocational agriculture, science, served as vice-principal, and retired in 2000 as the athletic director for the Cubs. Leo proudly bled blue and gold. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 in the Leo J. Wirth Gymnasium at Kimball Area High School in Kimball. Pastor Lori Artner will officiate. The visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, both at Kimball United Methodist Church in Kimball. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Coborns Cancer Center, Quiet Oaks Hospice, Kimball United Methodist Church, or Kimball Senior Scholarship. 

In honor of Leo, please consider wearing Kimball blue and gold to his visitation and/or funeral.

Leo Wirth made a positive impact on countless students, staff members and community members during his tenure in the Kimball area.
