Youth Safety Camp

Kimball Area Public School District’s Resource Officer, Deputy Sheriff Brian Theisen, facilitated a free Stearns County Sheriff's Department Summer Youth Safety Camp on June 21 at the Warner Lake County Park in Clearwater. Kimball had 13 students attend the educational camp.

Members from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, the Clearwater Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources covered a wide variety of topics, including: fire safety, water safety, wildlife and gaming, why and how drones are used, how K-9 officers train and utilize their dogs and much more.

“I hope all of the kids enjoyed the day and learned a few things about safety,” said Deputy Theisen. “Thank you to all of the kids who attended.”

Stearns County Sheriff's Department offered another camp on June 23 in Paynesville and will be offering two more Summer Youth Safety Camps this summer on July 12 in Sauk Centre and July 13 at Veteran’s Park in Holdingford.

Each camp is limited to 30 students, ages 8-12. Food and refreshments are provided by the Sheriff’s Department staff during the camp. Theisen can be reached at brian.theisen@co.stearns.mn.us regarding registrations.
