Over 150 Kimball community members and basketball fans traveled to the Target Center to support our Cubs. Thank you for helping our student-athletes garner these positive life experiences. Following the Kimball basketball win over Swanville, the Cubs enjoyed an impromptu visit to the Timberwolves media room. The squad then enjoyed a fun afternoon at a local bowling alley before returning to the Target Center for the NBA tilt. #KimballHoops










Memories to last a lifetime were made on Feb. 8 as the Kimball boy's basketball squad traveled to Minneapolis to play Swanville on the Timberwolves floor in the Target Center. The Cubs utilized tough defense, good ball movement and sharp shooting from guards Owen Mortenson and Andray Stang to outlast the Bulldogs in non-conference action, 71-45. All of the Kimball players were able to get playing time on the NBA floor. Kimball’s 6th grade boy's basketball team had the privilege of playing at halftime and showcasing their skills as well. The day was made complete as the Cubs and community members watched the Timberwolves come from behind to beat the Portland Trail Blazers as part of an electric crowd. Congratulations to the Kimball varsity girl's wrestlers who competed in the Section Championships on Feb. 7-8 in Redwood Falls. Sophomore Kylie VanNurden led the way with a 6th place finish. Grapplers Veronica Reek, Gabby Davis and Abby Fischer also tabbed thrilling matches in their respective weight classes. Thank you to Coach Schindler and Coach Kline for leading this group of trailblazing female wrestlers. Congrats on an awesome first season Cubs...history in the making! #KimballProud

Wrestling won against section foe Trinity 48-24 on Thursday, Feb. 6 @ Lesure Henderson. Going 2-0 for the Cubs last night were James Schiefelbein (145), Mark Schiefelbein (152), Jonny Serbus (172), and Hank Meyer (189). Go Cubs!

Kimball boy's basketball cruised to a convincing 81-36 CMC victory at Maple Lake on Feb. 6 to improve to 9-1 in the conference and 12-5 overall. The Cubs will face LPGE tomorrow evening for Parent's Night in the Wirth Gym. Kimball JV and C-squad teams also inked wins at Maple Lake tonight for a Cubs clean sweep. Kimball Softball is excited to host its annual Youth Softball Clinics for girls in grades 3-8 on March 1 at the Kimball Area High School. The Cubs have hired Hannah Heacox to help with pitching instruction. Heacox was a 4-year starting pitcher for Gustavus Adolphus College. Kimball Elementary School kicked off their annual 1 School, 1 Book program yesterday in celebration of "I Love to Read" month. This year's book, "A Boy Called Bat" tells the story of Bixby Alexander Tam, nicknamed "Bat," a young boy on the autism spectrum who is presented with a unique opportunity when his veterinarian mom brings home a baby skunk to foster, and he must convince her to let him keep it as a pet, navigating his own sensitivities and challenges while trying to prove he can be responsible for the animal. Every family received a copy of the book to read at home along with various activities to do throughout the month of February.

Congratulations to Kimball’s senior point guard Owen Mortenson who scored his 1,000th career point in a big 86-71 victory over Milaca on Feb. 3. Mortenson tabbed his 1,000th career tally on a free throw late in the second half in front of a supportive Cubs crowd. Bryant Knaus inked a career-high 33 points in the Cubs victory to help the varsity squad improve to 11-5 overall (8-1 CMC). The JV team had a big win over the Wolves, while the C-squad lost a heartbreaker by 1 point to Milaca. Way to go Cubs! #KimballHoops #KimballProud
