Good afternoon Kimball School Families I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out with a school update. Many of you know the Governor issued a new executive order that included schools with the primary focus on elementary schools. At this time the building COVID planning teams are going through the information to see what, if any, changes may occur as a result. The one thing we know for certain is that the requirements will not force us to change our current plans. However, what the requirements may do is allow us to find some flexibility in the timelines for returning groups of students. More information will be shared Tuesday, December 22nd once the teams have met and information is shared with the Incident Command Team. Please stay tuned. At the school board meeting on Wednesday night (December 16th) the 2020-2021 school calendar was amended to allow for more student contact days. An updated copy will be placed on the school webpage. Student activities (this includes Community Education) will resume activities and practices on Monday, January 4th. At this time we are not sure when competitions will begin. We will let you know as soon as the information is available. Preschool will return to classes on Monday, January 4th. ECFE will be starting on January 13th and 14th with in-person Parent Education classes. December 22nd will be the last day Cubs Club will be open for 2020. Cubs Club will reopen on Monday, January 4th. In closing I want to thank you for your continued support of the students and staff of Kimball Area Public Schools. I hope you and your families have a fantastic weekend. Please be safe and stay well. Respectfully Erik Widvey

Hello Kimball School Families, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out today with an update on where we are currently in our learning models and where we are planning on heading in the days to come. We are currently operating in the Distance Learning model (K-12) and will continue to do so until Friday, January 8th, 2021. Starting Monday, January 11th, we have received permission from our Regional Support Team to plan to bring back students in grades K-5 in a Hybrid model. More information on what that model looks like will be communicated with K-5 families by Mr. Timmerman. Grades 6-12 will continue to stay in Distance Learning until Friday, January 22nd. Starting Monday, January 25th, the Regional Support Team has given us permission to plan to bring back grades K-6 to In-Person learning 4 days a week. In addition, we received permission to plan for students in grades 7-12 to return to Hybrid learning on January 25th as well. More information for families in regards to these models will be communicated by Mr. Timmerman and Mrs. Bonnifield. It is important to note that beyond receiving permission to move towards less restrictive models the plans are entirely dependent on case numbers within our schools and the impact these numbers have on staff and students. We will continue to monitor as we move forward and update you weekly. Thank you for your continued support of the students and staff of Kimball Area Public Schools. Please stay well and take care. Thanksgiving 2020
Hello Kimball School Families, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you today with an update on our current learning model. At this time we are operating in the distance learning model (K-12) and will continue to do so until further notice. Our numbers of positive COVID-19 cases and those under quarantine among staff and students continues to be problematic. Due to our current situation, we must continue to operate in the distance learning model (K-12). When the data starts to support a return to a less restrictive model, the school district is required to consult with our regional support team. This group consists of individuals from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education. During this consultation, the regional team will look at our data and make a determination on what model we need to be in. In other words, once they give us permission to move to a less restrictive model we can begin the process of moving the dial back. Please know our goal through all of this will be to avoid bouncing back and forth between different learning models as it will not provide the consistency students and families need. In addition, the incident command team continues to meet and will do so for the days and weeks ahead. As a reminder, the team is composed of school administration, school board members, district parents of students in elementary and high school, teachers, support staff, and transportation. The team has been, and will continue to be, looking at the most up-to-date data available and will be involved, once given the green light by MDH/MDE, in determining the model that our district returns to once distance learning ends. We all realize the difficulty of the situation we find ourselves in and want you to know we want to see our students back as quickly and safely as possible. With that said, we ask for your patience as we continue to navigate through these turbulent times. I will be following up with an update again next week. Please stay well this Thanksgiving weekend and thank you for your continued support of the students and staff of Kimball Area Public Schools. Respectfully, Erik Widvey
