The school district is the process of building the 2025-2026 school year. In prior years (excluding this year) school has started prior to Labor Day. Based on the local stakeholder survey data (which was conducted in December) the district is looking to do so again in 2025-2026. For this to happen the school district must apply for a waiver granted by the Minnesota Department of Education. Prior to submitting the application, the school district must hold 3 public hearings for public input. These hearings are scheduled for February 24, 25, and 26 and will start at 6:00 pm. The meetings will be held in the school district board room.

Memories to last a lifetime were made on Feb. 8 as the Kimball boy's basketball squad traveled to Minneapolis to play Swanville on the Timberwolves floor in the Target Center. The Cubs utilized tough defense, good ball movement and sharp shooting from guards Owen Mortenson and Andray Stang to outlast the Bulldogs in non-conference action, 71-45. All of the Kimball players were able to get playing time on the NBA floor. Kimball’s 6th grade boy's basketball team had the privilege of playing at halftime and showcasing their skills as well. The day was made complete as the Cubs and community members watched the Timberwolves come from behind to beat the Portland Trail Blazers as part of an electric crowd.
