Good afternoon Kimball Elementary School Families, As I stated earlier this week in a communication to you, I was hoping that I would not have to send this message. I am reaching out to you this afternoon to inform you that over the past two days, a growing number of Kimball Elementary Staff have been impacted by COVID-19 and are either in isolation or quarantine. The number of staff affected has grown steadily the past two days and is expected to continue growing in the days to come. At this point, similar to our Kimball High School’s situation, Kimball Elementary School is unable to staff classrooms appropriately due a lack of staff and available substitutes. The incident command team met at 10:00 am this morning to discuss our current situation and look at options. The decision the team made is as follows: Due to a lack of available staff and substitutes, Kimball Elementary School will be moving to Distance Learning starting Monday, November 16th. More information on KES’s distance learning plan will be coming from Mr. Joel Timmerman. After school activities (MSHSL and Junior High) will continue as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. Community Education programming (Youth and Adult recreation and enrichment) will continue in-person as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. Preschool and Enrichment programs will continue in-person as normal, unless otherwise notified. Bussing will be provided to and from school for our preschool learners. Parents should expect an email this afternoon from our EC Coordinator, Lisa Maschino, in regards to transportation needs of our preschool and enrichment learners. Cubs Club (School Age Child Care) will operate as follows: Cubs Club programming (ages 3-5th grade) will be available Monday through Friday, from 6:30am-5:30pm, for all of our district families. Our Emergency Tier I Essential Workers will take priority when scheduling for school age child care. This list includes folks who work in High Density Emergency areas: Front-line doctors and nurses at the hospital in an emergency care room setting, EMT/Ambulance/First Responders, Law Enforcement, Firefighters (full-time), Nat'l Guard members, Urgent Care workers where COVID testing is being processed, Epic workers who assist at the hospital, VA workers who are front-line workers (doctors or nurses). Please contact Holly Barthel to schedule school age care at: cubs.club@kimball.k12.mn.us or 320-398-7700 X 2555. Meals will be provided to our district families. If you need meals please reach out to Sherry Hanson, Food Service Director, at sherry.hanson@kimball.k12.mn.us, or 320-398-7700 ext. 1377. At this time we do not know when we will be able to return to our hybrid or in-person models. It will depend on cases that evolve over the coming days (and perhaps weeks). The school district will be pushing out periodic updates over the days to come. Thank you for your continued support of the students and staff of Kimball Area Public Schools. Please be safe and stay well. Erik Widvey

Parents we will be sending snacks for each student calendar day. The teachers will be passing out snack to the students and we have asked them to remind the students to bring them home for their distance learning days. For example: next week we have 5 days with in person and distance learning; each student signed up will receive 5 snacks for the week. Thank you four understanding and patience.

Good afternoon Kimball School Families, I am reaching out to you today with a message I was hoping I would not have to send. As of this morning, a significant number of staff at the high school have been impacted by COVID-19 and are either in isolation or quarantine. A rising number of elementary school staff are impacted by COVID-19 as well. Due to the numbers of staff impacted at the high school, we are unable to staff classrooms as needed due to a lack of substitute staff. In addition, changes will be happening at the elementary as well. The incident command team met at noon today to discuss our current situation and look at options. The decision the team made is as follows: Kimball Area High School (grades 6-12) will be moving to distance learning on Thursday, November 12th. There will be no school for students tomorrow Tuesday, November 10th. High school staff will use tomorrow and Wednesday, November 11th, as planning days to meet student needs in regards to distance learning. More information will be coming from Mrs. Bonnifield. Kimball Elementary School will be moving the Hybrid Learning (Blue and Gold Days) starting Monday, November 16th. KES students will have in-person school tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10th. KES students will not have school on Wednesday, (Nov. 11), Thursday (Nov. 12) or Friday (Nov. 13) as staff prepares for Hybrid learning with students. More information on KES’s hybrid learning plan will be coming from Mr. Timmerman. After school activities will continue as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. Community Education programming will continue as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. Preschool and Enrichment programs will continue in-person as scheduled this week, unless otherwise notified. Bussing will be provided for our preschool learners on Nov. 12 and 13 as normally scheduled. Cubs Club (school age child care) will operate as follows this week (Nov. 10-13). Nov. 10 - Normally scheduled before and after school care. Nov. 11 - Normally scheduled Distance Learning care for already enrolled and scheduled families (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) Nov. 12 & 13 - Care only available for EMERGENCY TIER 1 Essential Workers. We need to be closed for other Cubs Club families so that our staff can move supplies over to St. Anne's Church and prepare to be open 5 days a week for distance learning students (starting Nov. 16). The Updated Emergency Tier I Essential Workers List includes folks who work in High Density Emergency areas: EMT/Ambulance, Front-line doctors and nurses at the hospital in emergency care room settings/etc., Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Nat'l Guard members, Urgent Care workers where COVID testing is being processed, Epic workers who assist at the hospital, VA workers who are front-line workers (doctors or nurses).
